The carpet LOVE is a living presentation of dream, celebration and memory of all special stories.
A carpet in a room makes another dimension. It is a space in a space, and it is a window that shifts the atmosphere the space. Taking carpet as boundless blank space for imagination, creating an additional horizon for beloved spaces was the very starting point of the development of the design. And there was a wish that each piece of carpet to be something that is cheering for what has come and what to come in one’s lifetime.
When you look over the carpet, two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures are weaved together. The symbols - circles, ovals, pillars and disks - represent different status of a circle which is a timeless motif for the circulation of life. Also, they are entangled with personalised symbol, alphabets. Then they create unexpected and joyful shapes. The abstract shapes give viewers rooms to envisage freely and embed their own stories along them
It is designed to last like good memories engraved in a room or any living space. I wish this carpet can join occasions such as someone’s birth, a new start, or any moments to celebrate then grow old together in their home. In the course of time, the dimension above all will be someone’s own life that has built and lived with love.
Your own letters and words
It is also possible to have your own word, initials or, for example, a C & T designed and knotted as a rug. Colours and materials can also be individually designed.Â
Teppich DOMUS
About the designer
NORU (Seohyun Salur) is an interdisciplinary designer who takes spontaneity as a tool to explore the notion of to be empty and to be filled. Her foundational works are paper collages which she translates into different forms of art and design. In her work, void spaces are not empty places but rooms that host imagination so that they become landscapes of ever-changing relationships. She has collaborated with a few textile brands in Switzerland. Textile for home, especially carpet is the main object she chose to have discourse with, about expansion of imagination through void. In her design projects, a carpet becomes a very centrepiece of a space that houses personal memories within. |
