Contributions of our crowdfunding
Thank you all for your great support
How our crowdfunding helped our producers and many families in Nepal during the corona lockdown crisis
Milha Custom Rugs, our carpet partner and family business of our co-founder Tashi Lama
Out of the total 87 workers, 34 workers left for home at the beginning of the corona crisis and the rest of the employees took the decision to stay back at the factory. With the contribution of the crowdfunding, the families staying at the factory were provided with nutrition rations and received their salary as well. We provided especially children with fruits and other nutritional supplements. As it was also the request of the parents. This has been our way of giving the equal rights and accountability of the funds that we give to our partners in Nepal. As they are on the ground and know the first hand requirements. And we are happy to share that, works have already started and we are currently producing two carpets, ordered by two of our customers. And we are working on our new collections for the Designgut fair.Â
Here is a picture from the carpet factory in Nepal and the people we could help thanks to all of you.Â
Natural Fibre – one of our clothes producer in need
Natural Fibre was able to provide rations and salary for a month for its work force thanks to our crowdfunding. This helped the company not to take any loans which would have only added further cost in future. We discussed with our partner the best possible way to utilize the fund. And now slowly the restrictions are lowered but the precautions and safety measures are applied and workers are able to come back to work. And we have already started producing our new collection. We are happy to be able to work again and thank everyone who helped in the crowdfunding to help our partners in Nepal from avoiding further financial difficulties.
Helping families and small business in need
Our producers received a total of CHF 5000.- from our crowdfunding. Additionally we received another CHF 1700 through the crowdfunding platform, added 30% of our total turnover in May and received another CHF 1250.- donations from our beloved customers after the official crowdfunding ended.Â
With this additional money we were able to provide nutrition rations for two months to more than 40 families. This was done through the Twin Otter Foundation, a small organisation we know well. And we transferred some funds to our friend Jay from stories of Nepal who is working at the border area with migrant worker returning from India. The situation there was very challenging. He used part of the donation to provide food there to families and the rest of the money to help people get back to economic independence as the lockdown and the restrictions are slowly lifted.

We always wanted to do more than what a fair fashion company does and we are thankful to all the people who helped us in achieving this commitment. As we believe, a company could be established to do good and sustain at the same time. And we continue this work with our TGIFW Foundation, will keep you updated.
