Financial resources for the Saahasi project
TGIFW raises money for a literacy project in Nepal
Sarlahi in Nepal is one of the districts with the highest illiteracy rate. According to recent data, more than 67 percent of women in Sarlahi cannot read or write. To address this major problem, the Saahasi project was launched locally. Classes started in two communities. More than 200 women, who were denied access to formal education for various social and economic reasons, are receiving basic education.
The women have been learning for six months with minimal resources. Only a white board, a marker and a duster are available. Four projectors, forty books and various play materials are needed to make the lessons suitable for learning. With the help of the projector, learning videos can also be shown. This promotes motivation and joy in learning.Â
A place should be created where the women like to meet. Many are tired from the many tasks in the household or in the fields. The education centre is meant to motivate them to continue their education, to be independent and to provide education for their children.Â
A total of CHF 2500 is needed for the next stage of expansion. We at TGIFW donate 1000.- from our turnover to the project. We would be happy if you would help us to collect the further 1500.-. Please contact us directly to donate.Â
Many thanks
